About Northampton

Northampton is one of the fastest growing towns in the UK. Located in the heart of England with excellent rail links and local junctions to the M1.

Once the shoe making capital, today it is the largest town in England. In the centre of Northampton is the market square which dates back to 1235 and offers a variety of products. Located off the square are an array of typical high street shops, numerous cafes and bars. There are two theatres which stage regular shows with top artists appearing.

Property in Northampton is predominantly Victorian in the town with more modern developments to the surrounding areas. Abington, located east of the town centre boasts many fine examples of Victorian architecture and style with local amenities including the picturesque Abington Park. The Mounts, which predominantly offers smaller Victorian homes, is well priced and is located in close proximity to the town centre providing easy access. It also boasts many factory conversions converted from the original shoe factories offering modern style living combined with original features. To the north of Abington is Kingsley or ‘Poets Corner’ due to the naming of the streets such as Chaucer, Byron etc. Other traditional areas are St. James, Semilong and Far Cotton.

As Northampton grew, it engulfed smaller villages which offer period property in their centres and modern housing on their fringes. To the north is Duston and Kingsthorpe, to the east is Weston Favell, and to the west is Hunsbury and Wootton; a new estate now sits on the fringe of Wootton at Grange Park.
